 Itinerary:  Wind Star - Mediterranean with different departures from April to November. A typical cruise goes from Rome on seven-day sailings to Croatia and Greece. Another goes to Portofino, Corsica, Elba, Florence, St. Tropez and Cannes. There are Greece itineraries between Athens and Istanbul. Other cruises: between Le Havre and Oslo with visits to Dieppe, Oostende/Brugge, Amsterdam (overnight); between Oslo and Stockholm with visits to Sweden, Denmark, Germany; Stockholm roundtrip with visits to Helsinki, Tallinn, and St. Petersburg (overnight). Other cruises visit Portugal and France. Holy Land cruises with pre- and post-cruise programs to Jerusalem go between Athens and Ashdod. Caribbean cruises go from St. Thomas roundtrip to St. John, St. Martin, St. Barthelemy, Tortola, Jost Van Dyke, Iles des Saintes, and Virgin Gorda. Wind Spirit: Winter - 2014/5 to Panama Canal going between Costa Rica and Panama visiting San Blas Islands, Isla de Cobia, Golfito, Costa Rica. Summer 2014 – sail to Tahiti Jun – November. Wind Spirit returns one more time to Costa Rica before permanently staying in the Tahiti Islands year round. Effective 2015 a special event is included on each cruise!

Cabins: 74. All cabins (188 sq. ft.) are outside and have twin beds that convert to queen size and have TV/VCR, CD, international direct-dial phone, and private bathroom with shower. Each cabin has large portholes and air-conditioning. Ten cabins offer a third berth. Some cabins have adjoining doors.

  • Dining: Open-seating dining room with one seating. Breakfast and lunch buffets are available in the deck restaurant, and one evening a casual dinner is served on deck. There is 24-hour room service. Vegetarian menus are available and special diets are accommodated with advance notice.
  • Dress: Casual during the day, jackets not required but no jeans; absolutely no ties. 
  • Facilities and Activities: These are identical motorized sailing ships -- four-mast schooners. There are 21,000 sq. ft. of sail and computer controls at the bridge furl or unfurl the sails in two minutes. There is a lounge featuring live entertainment nightly and evening dance music. There is a library, watersports platform, piano bar, laundry, small casino, small pool, hot tub, sauna, massage and hairdresser and fitness center. There is a doctor on board. There are no youth activities or special facilities for children, and the cruise line does not encourage passengers to bring children. There are theme cruises on gourmet cooking and wine. Smoking is permitted in designated areas, but no pipes or cigars are permitted except on deck. In Costa Rica naturalists accompany all shore excursions. Tour options include visits to park preserves, a float trip on the Corobici River and sea kayaking. In the Mediterranean on Bastille Day, passengers are in the Nice harbor with hundreds of private yachts to view fireworks. The stern sports platform offers water skis, scuba and snorkeling gear, sailboats, sailboards, sea kayaks and banana boats. Scuba diving offered bikes available for rent to use in ports. Not handicap accessible.
  • Fares: Seven-day cruise: $3,910 to $5,279; 14-day cruise: $6,810 to $9,409. Transatlantic 14-day voyage: from $2,980. Tahiti seven-night cruise starts $2,999. All fares are plus port charges and shore excursions.  Discounts apply for early booking and past passengers. Hotel packages are available before or after cruise.

There are 31 suites (376 sq. ft. each) that have a living/dining area and some have two bathrooms. Two new Bridge suites have a Jacuzzi. Some cabins will accommodate a third passenger.

  • Dining: Open-seating dining room with one seating, plus a bistro. Breakfast and lunch are buffet on deck and in the restaurant. Vegetarian menus available and special diets are accommodated. No smoking in the dining room.
     
  • Dress: Casual during the day. Casually elegant resort-wear at night.
     
  • Facilities and Activities: There is a fitness center and spa with massage, aromatherapy, herbal wraps, and hair salon. A watersports platform lowers for water-skiing, wind-surfing, kayaking, sailing, snorkeling and scuba diving (instruction program offered). You can visit the bridge at any time. There is a casino, conference center with facilities for up to 60 people. The Yacht Club is an espresso bar/library/lounge with iPod listening stations and eight computers for passenger use. There is also wireless internet access throughout the ship. There is a dance band. Only entertainment is crew night. Passengers visit historic sites, explore islands, snorkel and shop or relax on a beach. Bikes available for rent at ports. Not handicap accessible.
